As 2020 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on an unprecedented year for all. The 365 Data Centers team extends its thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted by the coronavirus and has the utmost appreciation for all the local community members, healthcare workers, and public and private entity leaders working toward reducing the risk of the spread of the virus.
In 2020, 365 expanded into new markets and added to its IaaS facilities and services while focusing on the safety of its customers, employees and financial resources during the pandemic.
Growth & Expansion
In February of this year, we acquired our Commack, Long Island Data Center from Mindshift Technologies,
increasing our data center total to 12. The highly resilient 24,000-square-foot data center is a Tier III facility built in 2016 to support complex IT and cloud demands. This facility offers a prime international destination within the New York City metro market, dense connectivity to nearby subsea cables, and 6 MW of available utility power and generator capacity. Mindshift became a significant, long-term customer of 365.
Adding to our growth, in November 365 acquired Atlantic Metro Communications, which provides tailored colocation, network, and cloud services to large and mid-size enterprises. While continuing to build 365’s presence in the data-intensive northeast corridor, the transaction solidifies 365’s position as one of the largest, privately held IaaS providers in the Eastern U.S. That transaction doubled the size of the company and positioned 365 to serve customers at our 13 redundantly interconnected data centers and 5 additional partner operated facilities, and from 86 PoPs and 7 cloud platform locations.
Atlantic Metro’s founders and key leaders joined the 365 executive team. Stephen Klenert as Senior Vice President, Customer Solutions & Implementation; James Cornman as Chief Technology Officer; and Steve Oakie as Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing.
Providing our clients with the very best solutions in the industry is our top priority. In August, our Fort Lauderdale facility increased security measures to better serve our clients. Expanding on the capabilities of the previous security platform, the new system offers customers increased secure access and enhanced management tools.
In addition, we significantly enhanced available power at our Tampa data center in September. The new system is both efficient and reliable, allowing customers to immediately utilize more power and it offers state-of-the-art digital continuity, which enables remote monitoring and seamless adjustments to customer loads.
365 continuously identifies strategic partners to provide added value to our clients. This year, 365 and Crosslake Fibre partnered together to provide network access in Buffalo, offering additional connections to Canada. This partnership complements 365’s existing services by offering new and existing customers with connectivity from Buffalo to both Toronto and Montreal, as well as additional network transport options to Chicago, Rochester, Ashburn, and New York in the U.S.
To position the company for further internal and external growth, Stoncourt Capital LP acquired a majority equity stake in 365 Data Centers in October, while original investors Lumerity Capital and Longboat Advisors reinvested into the new partnership. Bob DeSantis continues to lead the Company as CEO and the 365 management team remains fully intact. The equity funding enhances 365’s ability to execute on organic and acquisition growth strategies and facilitated the Atlantic Metro acquisition.
